Between historical re-enactments and the culinary tradition of Campiglia d’Orcia.
In Campiglia d’Orcia, the Chestnut Festival has been a tradition since 1978. In this small town, during the festival, it is possible to taste local dishes and products made from chestnuts as well as witness the re-enactment of ancient customs and traditions. In fact, each of the three districts into which the village is divided, Agitati, Dentro and Borgassero, is organized to stage reenactments with a historical and religious theme in the streets of the center.
Scenery, music and costumed inhabitants allow visitors to take a pleasant step back in time. The votes of the jury and those of the public decree the victory of the most impressive parade. No less important is the gastronomic aspect: each ward sets up a refreshment stand that prepares all typical chestnut products.
