Traveling in the Val d’Orcia on board the Nature Train
The Val d’Orcia is traversed by an attractive railway line, closed in 1996 and kept alive as a line for tourist use to this day by the Italian FS Foundation.
The Val d’Orcia Railway, with its 51.2 kilometers connecting the provinces of Siena (Asciano) and Grosseto (Monte Antico), is the best way to spend a day in the most authentic heart of Tuscany, for a truly slow travel experience both on weekends and during the week.
On board a vintage train, it will be possible to set off to some of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany and participate in special events: village festivals and celebrations, excursions and initiatives, will complete the experience of the Nature Train, and give unique moments among the flavors and beauty of the Val d’Orcia.
Getting on board the Nature Train and setting off for the Val d’Orcia means traveling through the history and food and wine traditions of the Val d’Orcia, passing through the heart of this unique area, which has been declared a World Heritage Site.
The Nature Train runs every year from March to May, then resumes from September to November after the summer break.
