The festival dedicated to flowers to celebrate spring.
Sirio Mangiavacchi, a Pientino nurseryman, had an idea to enhance his village and decided to do so by enriching it with flowers. In this way “Pienza and the Flowers” was born in 1966. During the first decade of the month of May, the two main sites of the town, the Pius II Square and the Papal Palace are adorned with floral motifs so that the whole town can celebrate, with this floral jubilation, the arrival of the beautiful season. Now considered the canonical Spring Festival, local nurserymen gather during this event and special events are organized, including the opening of several gardens in Pienza and throughout the Val d’Orcia.
